How RSVP works, how invitations are sent, and what guests actually see.
- What does RSVP mean?
- RSVP comes from the French "Répondez s’il vous plaît" — "please reply". On an invitation it asks guests to accept or decline by a given date, so the host can plan with a reliable headcount.
- How does a digital invitation with RSVP work?
- You build an invitation page with date, time, location and an image, then share a link to it. Anyone who opens the link sees the invitation and accepts or declines in one click. The response lands in your guest list straight away, with nothing for you to type in.
- Do my guests need an account to reply?
- No. Guests open the invitation link and reply straight in the browser — no sign-up, no app, no download. That applies to your custom questions too.
- Do guests get a confirmation of their reply?
- Yes. Guests who enter an email address receive a confirmation of their own response with the key event details. HeyInvite does not show whether an invitation was opened or read.
- When should I ask for a reply by?
- As a rule of thumb: two to three weeks ahead for private celebrations, four to six weeks for weddings, two to four weeks for company events. Name a specific date rather than "as soon as possible" — it measurably improves the response rate.
- Can I export the guest list?
- Yes, as an Excel file in .xlsx format. It contains every guest, their status (accepted, declined, pending), the number of companions and the answers to your custom questions. HeyInvite does not currently offer PDF or CSV export.
